Hi guys. I have searched and read other threads along these lines but I was hoping you might give me a bit of feedback on colour choice for the LSE as I've pretty much lost all subjectivity and need help! ;)

I've been thinking about respraying the LSE for a long time. My hand was forced to some degree by my mother who drove into her over xmas and ripped the Brooklands rear bumper apart as well as damaging some panels (I have all replacement panels as brand new parts). I intend to do this in a month or two once I have sorted the last of my electrical gremlins and have her running sweetly.

The LSE is not really used off road and is more of a Euro-shlepper so I'm chucking on some 18"s (the ones from the Defender Icon's and Zulu's), which due to being 9” wide will only fit with 55mm depth p-metric tyres on with the EAS. I’ve seen these wheels on a CSK from pistonheads and they do look good.

Thinking about paint colour my lines of thought have really dropped down to blue or grey. I’m Plymouth Blue atm and really fancy a change, and the paint's pretty dead anyway. The grey's I’m loking at are Orknay Grey (as per modern RR)/gun metal grey/a medium grey/AM cumberland grey (as per Horse Apples old OF)/also the light grey of Joe10972’s RR is nice. The grey with satin black alloys may look good but I'm VERY aware that I don't want it to lose its classic looks and become a chav mobile, also baring in mind how many modern RR's come in grey it's also probably not very imaginative.

The other colour I'm thinking about is blue. Now (and bare with me on this) I'm a HUGE fan of the original Tuscan blue.

I've spoken with a few friends about this and people say the non-metallic won't work on the LSE. Thing is I look at the photo and back to my car and think it's so similar in body panels that the only reason I can see it might not work is the brooklands kit bringing the colour down at the front which may be negative, as I think the black bumper probably breaks the colour up. Are there any flat painted late Vogues out there to see?

Anyway, long question short really. Does anyone think Tuscan Blue would work? Also any other suggestions on colour?

Thanks a lot for any input, feeling a little lost atm.

I wouldn`t paint an LSE in a solid colour unless you lacquer it as well to get some reflectvity, I think early RR standard colours look dated now, great for vehicles of that age but not on an LSE
If you like grey look at Bonatti grey, or blue maybe Arles blue ?
My LSE was Ardennes Green and I thought it was the best colour for something so traditionally styled and of its period, but my Defender is Arles Blue and aside from picking up scratches I think it looks good on that car whereas Ardennes Green would look awful.

My suggestion would be to stick with colours from the early 90`s and maybe look outside the LR colour palette until you find one you like ?

Cheers.

I think what reignited my idea behind the Tuscan Blue was seeing the Twisted Retro Defender.

I think that's the old Bahama gold/sand which is flat. I think that looks damn tidy. But when it boils down to it it's a Defender not an LSE.

Ardennes is a great colour for the LSE, however with the wheel upgrade I don't think it would work. But then again looking at colours I like (Cossy blue/BMWs Monte carlo blue/etc) I keep finding myself thinking they are too aggressive for the car.

At the same time I want something distinctive that will stand out, yet not chavy (a la Ms. Price's pink RR). ;)

...and certainly no LV wraps.
