Hi all,

I've been doing a lot of reading lately about restoring a Series 3. I'm wondering if I've bitten off way more than I can chew here. If you have a look at the album (link attached), I've tried to show all of the rust and damage to the Landy that needs doing. I don't think anything has been done to it since it was built in 1974. Could anyone advise me where best to start? Stripping down and replacing the chassis? I wouldn't know where to start doing that either! Looking at the photos, any ideas what costs are going to be involved in restoring this?

The engine is a runner although the starter motor needs replacing as it takes a few goes with the key before it turns over properly.

Thanks

Will

That is a tidy looking motor, the chassis look to be in good nick, I would remove that out rigger that has been fitted and re-weld it back on properly. The bulkhead has the usual rot but repair panels will sort that out and I must say the body looks straight. I would be well pleased if I had purchased it.

Like any big job don't look at the whole thing just one job at a time. remove the roof then the wings then the floor and so on until it is all in bits, get the chassis blasted repair as needed then refurbish each piece and refit it. Most of all enjoy the trip.

Start a thread on here and you will get plenty of advice. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Forgive me for being totally new to this but what exactly is the outrigger?! I'll start tomorrow at stripping the roof off and body. It could do with a thorough clean inside too!

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up, I think I know what you mean after a quick Google! Which picture exactly shows the outrigger that needs welding back on properly?

It's pretty simple to be honest, if it's eaten through with rust, fix it or replace it. If it's hanging off, fix it. If it's missing, get another one...............:)
