Massive thanks to Herb for doing his magic on my engine - I can now hit 70 easily! Makes the 2.5na a keeper for sure! Made me a very happy new Landy custodian!

Have to say though - diesel pump adjustment just looks like black magic to me ;-)

Just to echo this he patiently talked me through it on the phone twice and gave me advice via pm. Made a massive difference to my 2.5na, smoother pickup, better top end speed and i can stay a whole gear higher for most situations now. Proper decent chap.

My kettle will always have a brew for you should you find yourself down my way.

I still have a bit more fine tuning but due to breaking my leg it's laid up in the garage till I can get back out there (will be next year lol)

What kind of mpg do you get out of a 2.5 n/a? The only think I'd like from my series is half decent fuel economy so thinking of getting an ex mod with one of these engines.

I get around 26-28mpg sometimes a bit less if loaded up. I tend to pootle around the country lanes at 60mph though so not the best conditions for max economy. Mine is a 90

:clap2:
so whats the story? :boink:
:D

Engine was a flat as a fart and had a bit too much diesel knock (although I thought the thing was about to self destruct - chalk that down to experience!!)

Pulls like a train now, and diesel knock has halfed at least :)

I still think that it could still do with the pump advancing a couple of degrees or so, but that's for another day.

One of the problems is that all the adjustments and stops have been clagged up with paint, and I didn't want to break anything!

My biggest problem is that now my wife has seen Ben's Landy, she wants another!

Got to admit that he has one of the cleanest Landies I have seen in a long time, with the chassis just about as perfect as they come!

After looking at all of the flaky paint coating each and every screw thread, I think my winter jobs may have to be to clean some off! If all else fails, I might just start systematic replacement of the extra painted bits :)

I am willing to wager a parking ticket envelope (whoops ... council duly complained to this morning!!) that your road will be graced with another Landy soon enough ;-)

Sorry about the parking ticket! :(

I am sure that we can find a witness to say that your Landy had to be repaired before it was moved!

We now know where not to park outside the house! :D

Dont worry about it, wasnt your fault!! I blame the esablishment!!!

I already have a friendly VAT registered garage who has emailed me over the price that I had to pay for recovery and repairs ;-)
