Hello.

I'm going to be fitting a Disco 200tdi engine into my 90 next week - so I spent the weekend giving the Disco engine the once over. I took off the starter motor to find this (see below):

My options are:
Put it back and hope for the best (not really an option!)
Or buy a new one.

Or - can it be fixed?
Failing that, will the TD starter motor fit the TDi?

IIRC the TD and the Tdi starter motor as the same.

that liquid metal stuff will fix that....quiksteel or something?!

the starter motors are the same. well i used my TD one when i swapped my TD for a 200tdi as i new it worked! never had a problem

That's certainly what my research this morning would suggest! I'll find out next weekend when the TD lump comes out of the car.

I've seen that stuff, but wasn't sure how strong it really is? Will it bond ally and make a good joint?

id never in a million years use that on an engine part

if your going to fix the old one get it alloy welded but theres no need as your td will will fit
