has anyone used one on there conversion

i have been converting my na to a 300tdi its all back up and running but iam not happy with the exhaust pipe and i ahve seen this on ebay was wanting to no if any one has used one of these?. DVY 300TDI CONVERSION INTO DEFENDER 90/110 FRONT PIPE SPEX126 | eBay

and dose it miss the chassis engine mount, i have used the lt77 grearbox and the 300tdi disco down pipe but its jammed right up against the engine mount that's welded on to the chassis,
or has anyone got any pics of the way you have done you exhaust would be grateful,

I took a Disco downpipe complete with the flexi - cut it after the flexi and welded it back together at the appropriate length.

I then used a standard 300tdi exhaust on the rest of the system.

But dose it not jam up against the original na engine mount thats welded on to chassis. Coz thats how mine ended up and dont like the look of it been jammed up against the mount with the rubber

It says on the advert that you also have to purchase

"Please note that this pipe is only designed for the LT77 gearboxes and when only using our engine mounting brackets SPCK300"

That's another £77 on top of the pipe purchase price

Why don't you cut the original na mount off the chassis?

I would then need to weld a new mount back on wouldn't I and would they be anywhere to mount new mount on to the engine block.

I rang them up to see if this would fit with me useing the original na mount and they was unsure if it would fit onband miss the mount

Oh I welded on custom made 300tdi mounts.

So I left the standard mounts on the engine, and made a custom bracket for the chassis. The picture is not that clear but this gives you an idea how I did the bracket. Basically it's two triangles as supports with a top piece welded on which receives chassis side of the rubber mount.

Sorry I misunderstood what you meant. When we fitted my 300 originally, we cut the 2.5 td mounts off, then welded 300 versions in.

would i have to weld them on to chassis or could i get away with bolting it on to chassis and putting a plate on other side of chassis where bolts to tighten up, as the engine is all in now

I have seen people make a big plate, about 7mm thick that matches the contours of the chassis, it's about 350/400mm long so it's not just some daft little bit, this bolts on with about 8 bolts and the required bracket is obviously welded to this plate.

It may be easier for you now to just modify an exhaust pipe to suit (if you can't weld, I am sure if you cut the pipe up to suit, and dry fitted pieces someone would weld it up for you, even a local garage).

However, I do think it would be possible to do in situ. Support the engine, take ONE mount off at a time, clean up the chassis rail and weld up the bracket, but if you can't weld... A lot of people mate the engine up to the gearbox before welding on the mounts when doing engine transplants that require bracket changes anyway as it means they can fit the bracket precisely.
