Hi Guys

I've got a 1998 4.6 HSE, my CD changer went 'Kaput' a long time ago, Don't use tapes, but use my MP3 with the cassette deck, works brills.

You can also send your head unit off to Clarion in Melksham (nr Swindon) who, for £100, will fully refurb it and add in an iPod/MP3 connection. Apparently they turn the unit round in 24 hours before posting it back. They also just do a refurb for £75.

You need to check, though, that you have the Clarion unit - the "upgraded" unit to the Clarion in the later high spec models is actually an Alpine and this is not as easy to have repaired as spares are apparently no longer available. If you post a pic of the head unit on the forum, we could tell you which unit it is, Clarion or Alpine. They do pop up on fleebay, but of course lots of faulty units do too, so buying from a reliable source is essential.

:D

I have same prob with my DSP on a RR 30y anniversary No sound from Head or Sat Nav!
Have looked for DSP in left side behind Sub Woofer but the space is taken up with the Sony Video module. Any Ideas were the DSP may be ?????

Agree 100%. Maybe the Luddites who've had so much negative stuff to say about repairing HK systems use their portable trannies as their "car radio" as it becomes a "car radio" when its in the car, not so? Why on earth would anyone need anything else ?:director::fighting2:

When you guys are listening to music at HOME, do you play traffic noises in the background to make it sound as realistic as it sounds when you are listening while you are driving your RangeRovers on the school run?

Get real!

The pupose of these expensive sound machines is to MAKE MONEY.

They make money by making the kit FASHIONABLE, so everyone wants one. It's like the King's new clothes - no-one wants to say the King's not wearing any!
Once it's fashionable, they'll get shed loads of cash from followers of fashion, people who saves themselves the trouble of making sensible judgements, by buying whatever is fashionable at the time.

Stop and think. A £5 wrist watch keeps as good or better time as a Rolex, and you don't often get mugged for a Mickey Mouse watch.

Think of all the cash you could save to put towards your next Landie!

You need to "get real" and "stop and think" too - it takes all types to make up this world and everyone has a CHOICE, even with their car sound systems amazingly!! Some people actually LIKE them and WANT them to work as intended, others, like you, obviously don't think the same way. Doesn't mean the guys who want to repair their high-end stereos in their RRs have to be bashed about it - leave them be! So much for tolerance today!!! :screaming_bug_eye_f

Oh, and you may like a £5 Mickey Mouse watch, but they aren't to everyones taste now, and Rolex manage to sell loads of watches.......personally, I'd repair the RR stereo before buying a Rolex although the price may not differ much !!!!:5bnopity:
