Hi All,

Bought my first Land Rover a few weeks ago - 1982 109 FFR with No Tax, No MOT, No Brakes, A 2.5 TD conversion and a flat Battery - delivered kindly by the vendor on the back of recovery truck...

In the scheme of things it's not looking too bad, but then I know Jack about Land Rovers... and very little about car mechanics.

Any way, am enjoying pottering and learning - found the previous owner had fitted the rear shoes incorrectly - 2 x trailing shoes on one side and 2 x leading on the other, decided to fit new shoes and cylinders all round and made a few brake pipes. Sorted an odd brake light problem by cleaning up the earth posts.
Have one small area of welding to sort - area on out rigger? where rear leaf springs mount.

Leaks to sort on all sump doors, but then I am led to believe you live with that... Not sure if I will have to renew ropey looking swivel seal for MOT.

Enough Babbling I'm off for now, will sort photos some time. Looking forward to getting on the road.... Cheers

:welcome2: invest in some good handcleanser and / or barrier cream.

Buy the best tools you can afford, yes secondhand is OK.

Enjoy your Landy, she'll love you for it...

:D Have a full 5ltr tub of Tufanega I've had for years and only ever dipped me fingers in a few times - right into it now. Also have Barrier cream which had gone moldy on the top - lovin it....
