Collected my 4.6 HSE on Friday and very pleased with my purchase. It's in great condition for an 11 year old.
Sorted out a couple of minor issues, cruise control was not working and fitted a decent head unit as I like my music, quite impressed with the Harmon Kardon speakers so will leave them in for now. Which leads me nicely to my first question.

P38, 4.6 HSE, November 1999 on a V plate. Should there be a subwoofer fitted?
I have checked behind the panel on the left of the luggage space and there are some mounting studs with nothing attached, there is also a Sony 10 disc multichanger which is no good to me as I have fitted an Alpine head unit with ipod control.

The aircon is not working and the book symbol is showing on the HVAC screen.
Air blend and air distribution all working fine so presume it needs regassing.
I understand that oil is carried around the system to provide lubrication so will I f**k up the compressor if I continue to use the vehicle?

Thanks in advance for replies and info.

Ref aircon, compressor won't run if there is no pressure in system.

Sounds like someone has already had a go at the stereo as the Hk system in mine has 10 speakers and a sub, and the multi changer says LandRover, but i think its a Clarion unit as per the head unit. Acording to Range rover .net yours should be a 12 speaker 300w system.

Thanks for the info mate, I will have a closer look in the load space tomorrow for the sub harness and plugs. Someone has obviously removed it for some reason and fitted a Sony head unit and 10 disc changer. The head unit was removed when I bought the car so can only assume the disc changer is knackered or else they would have removed that too.

Cheers.......TC.

I have the HK system with the sub and it sounds pants! Stick to an aftermarket and fit an infinity all in one amp and sub sounds the business looks tidy and very quick to whip out if you ever need the extra space PLUS the range is in essence a box so it acts like a sub enclosure anyways! but you may lose steering wheel controls unless you get the block to go with the head unit :0D

From experience this is very sound advice..............after fitting a decent system in my series, steering control was seriously effected...

DO NOT TRY AND DANCE WHILE DRIVING!!
