I thought I'd put this up Jo is now 27 year old 90. Over the past 5 years this is what has been done to Jo.

Galvanised chassis
New bulkhead
New rear tub
All other panels repaired or replaced
Respray

Then I got Jo when my mate Mick died, then

New rear diff, bearings, springs, shocks, drums and pads
1:2 disco transfer box with seals etc done
front nearside bearings
Head gasket
New radiator oil cooler
Complete new set of rubber pipes
Injectors cleaned
New lift pump
Thermostat
Completely sound proofed the interior using dodo matting etc. thanks god for that one

I also service him every 6 months. He has a porous block so uses a little water.

He does 30-34 mpg and so far has not broken down.

Two weeks ago I was very close to selling him, but after a night in the pub with my mates telling me I would be ****ing mad to do that considering the time I have put in, plus he has mostly been rebuilt I'm keeping Jo.

It is a love hate relationship with him, on B roads and off road he's amazing. I use him a lot for radio events etc and lugging the dogs, rubbish, and other stuff about. 3 years of ownership and he still starts 1st time. He even has a heater that sort of works now.

I wonder how long he will keep going. I also have a spare engine now just in case.

For the A roads and Motorways I bought another disco so that it, nearly a full set of Land Rovers.

So I take it Jo is up for a Morocco trip next March/April then. Did you own Jo before the 1:2 disco transfer box was put in? I have been thinking about changing mine for one but wonder if its worth doing. I know you have a better motorway cruising speed, but do you loose the low down grunt.

I put the 1:2 in because it seem to have a 1:6 one in which seems very odd. I think the 1:4 would be a better option its a bit long in 1st. I think he is likely to be ok for next year. I'll see how work goes, this is a caviat on anything I do now that I'm self employed.

I'll get a picktue of him up here tomorrow when we go on a dig walk?
