Hi all,

Looking to replace my volt gauge and temperature gauges

As there bust

I have a dual battery system already and done really need the volt meter.

I plan to do a 1 year long overland trip...

Can you recommend what I should no go without gauge wise.

Thanks all

Tam

I dont think i would get rid of either of those gauges, especially the temp guage. You wouldnt want your engine overheating and not knowing about it till its too late. Same with the batterys, it doesnt hurt to keep an eye on their voltage so maybe even a dual guage, one reading for each battery. I noticed since ive put my voltmeter in that i keep an eye on it all the time, no idea why .

Why would the oil pressure gauge be useful ...?

Thanks landy loony for your help

Well I'd want to know if the oil pressure changed suddenly or even dropped steadily, you can at least make the call to stop or carry on without doing serious damage to the engine ;)

Certainly a lot more use than a do I need to change gear yet Rev counter ;)

The rev counter is really good when 4WDing. I actually use it more than the speedo. I have in my dash standard Speedo, temp, fuel and After market Rev counter. In my home made copy of MUD centre dash, Clock, Radio, Boost Gauge and power outlets for GPS, phone etc. In home made top dash pod, again copy of mud, Aux Fuel, Aux Battery, Main Battery, Amps.
Looks awesome, will take some pics one day.

Agree'd, the rev counter is very useful when off roading. I have got in the dash the standard speedo and then durtite marine gauges for fuel, rev counter and temp gauge. In my raptor dash I have got turbo boost, oil pressure and 2 x battery gauges. I dont think there are any other ones really needed beyond this, oil temp maybe although you have water temp so maybe not...

How??

So you can tell that your wheel spinning ?? :p

I tend to go by engine pitch, feel and why the feck am I going nowhere :D :D :D

Its useful for keeping engine revs high enough, making sure your in the correct gear e.t.c. the power is generally in a certain rev range and its nice to know your in that range. Yeah you can do it by ear but then you can see how fast your going by eye but still use a speedo ;)

Yup thats kinda what I thought and do by ear, eye and seat of pants :D :D

Hey all,

Ok it's decided then oil pressure gauge and rev counter is the way forward...

Thanks for all the knowledge advice to a novice like me

I will keep you all upto date with my changes

Au the best
