Freelander 1 Growling Fuel Pump

2002 TD4 - under bonnet fuel pump has recently started low pitch growl when running. Is this a sign of imminent failure or a blocked filter or both?

I would say sign of pump on it's way out or is working harder than it needs to due to weak or failing in tank pump, replace using only a Pierburg they last and are the best out there in my opinion not cheap though, you can sometimes drop on good second hand ones that have a load of life left in them for about £30.00

New ones always make sure by asking before purchase that they are genuine pierburg then if not you can get full refund.
