groaning steering

Hi,

Can anybody help.
The steering on my discovery td5 groans, usually it does it the most just after start up when your first moving off the drive with the steering turning.
But it sometimes does it when parking up too.
Not sure if the system needs bleeding or it's something more serious.

probly just yer fluid level low.

Just checked it tonight while fitting the egr blanking plate, all levels bang on the lines.

Now this might sound daft, but are you sure it's not the steering wheel binding on the column.

I can see your thinking, but it's coming from lower down and sort of hydraulic sounding, maybee air in the system.

Just after starting? are you sure it's the power steering not the ABS/TC starting up?

Do you mean that noise like it's just **** it's self just after startup, cuz if you do then no.
Im pretty sure it's the steering.

Iv'e started something now,

can anyone tell me how to find out if my ecu has been upgraded.
Ive driven loads of td5's when looking to buy, some quick, some slow & some that would'nt pull the skin off a rice pudding.
Mine is pretty quick but how do i tell if this is how they should be standard or if its been tampered with.

mebbe the groaning is caused by what he is doing at the time
