Recently bought a Freelancer 02 plate, 1.8SE. It's been really well looked after by the previous owner. I went to start it up and there was a grinding noise when the engine started but ran fine, no noises or anything after that. I turned the engine off (went to get some pasties) and then when I went to start the engine nothing happened. I had battery power (lights, Windows etc all worked fine) but nothing from the engine. I left it 10 minutes and it started with a grind and rattle from the engine but drove home fine. I'm ringing the garage tomorrow but wondered if you all had any advice for what I should be hearing from the garage.

Thanks

Just guessing here, but could possibly be the starter stuck/still engaged with the flywheel after you let go of the key.....would overheat and only start up again after its cooled down somewhat. Obviously talking from experience, but if it's indeed that, would only survive about 2 or 3 cycles of the situation described and give up the ghost for good.
