Just got in the disco (300tdi) at the gym,started her up and there was a nasty grinding noise coming from under the bonnet! sounded like a pulley with a bearing on it's way out.
Could not see anything obvious so i drove home. on the way there was a bang and the noise stopped and something bounced off the bottom of the car!!!.
Anyway, had a better look when i got home with a torch and found that the small pulley which sits just below and slightly to the right of the aircon belt tensioner has gone!
All thats left is the stud it sits on with a nut on the end.
Can anyone tell me what this pulley is called or even a part number please?
