Hi everyone,

Last year we toured round County Kerry in Ireland in a rented Nissan X-trail. Seemed to spin its wheels on the slightest bit of grit and not great once you leave the tarmac! Anyway - sitting on a beach watching sunsets I just got to thinking why waste time retracing steps to the hotel or having to be at the next B&B in time to collect keys. Would rather be at the beach or off some backroad with a panoramic view having a beer & a bowl of spag bol.

So here we are - I've just given some of my money away and bought a 2001 110 TD5. It's a 3 door hard top. Already had a 2" lift. Seems to be unabused and pretty standard. The idea is to fit it out for touring. We'll cut our teeth on UK & Ireland trips before going further afield. The Landy will be 'fitted out' as we discover what works for us. We want to be fairly self-sufficient in between the odd decadent hotel relapse. I'll also use the beast (unnamed as yet) for the daily short commute.

It's already talking to me and has asked nicely for a new master cylinder (fluid on my rubber mat).

Thats how I ended up with a Defender. I'm sure I'll be calling on you for advice & I'll post pictures as we go along.

Cheers
