Having owned my P38 for three months now, I thought it appropriate to introduce myself.
People in this Group have already given me some really valuable information and tips, for which many thanks.
My P38 is a Japanese import via Specialist Cars of York, and is a 1997 4.0SE in BRG with tan leather interior and around 90k miles on the clock.
Japanese cars are definitely "low-rust" with the only noticeable corrosion being on the inside of the rear bumper - the steel liner - when I get time it needs a wire brushing and some paint / under-seal.
This P38 is pleasingly basic: manual seats, and the space-hoppers have been replaced with coil springs that look as though they are off a JCB heavy duty earth-mover. The dampers are very chunky yellow devices. No leaning on corners. Having owned British sports cars for half a century, I do like firm / simple / reliable suspension.
I removed the remote locking receiver as it was an early type and had already destroyed the front door latch motors - again, excellent support from this Group on sorting them out. Central locking is all I need and want.
This P38 is a replacement for my Volvo XC70, and before that a Mercedes G-Wagon. This is so much better than either of those.
Thanks again for all the help and support - really useful when getting to know my new P38.

You're speaking my language. My '95 soft dash is on stout coils with Bilstein shocks and I love the firm ride, both on and off road.
This is considered heretical by many here at the Zone.

Welcome to LZ.
As long as coils works for you, that's all that really matters. ;)
Mine is on air springs (all new this year) and I have never had the 35MPH message.

Am a happy heretic.
Just one question on protocol - it it impolite to wave when passing a fellow RR driver who is trundling along in the fast lane at 35 mph on their bump stops?
Or should I stop and lend them a bicycle pump?
No!
let them stop and ask a cyclist for sympathy help

We ripped into you and you took it in your stride. Along with the banter comes great information. You are most welcome
