Having owned my P38 for three months now, I thought it appropriate to introduce myself.
People in this Group have already given me some really valuable information and tips, for which many thanks.
My P38 is a Japanese import via Specialist Cars of York, and is a 1997 4.0SE in BRG with tan leather interior and around 90k miles on the clock.
Japanese cars are definitely "low-rust" with the only noticeable corrosion being on the inside of the rear bumper - the steel liner - when I get time it needs a wire brushing and some paint / under-seal.
This P38 is pleasingly basic: manual seats, and the space-hoppers have been replaced with coil springs that look as though they are off a JCB heavy duty earth-mover. The dampers are very chunky yellow devices. No leaning on corners. Having owned British sports cars for half a century, I do like firm / simple / reliable suspension.
I removed the remote locking receiver as it was an early type and had already destroyed the front door latch motors - again, excellent support from this Group on sorting them out. Central locking is all I need and want.
This P38 is a replacement for my Volvo XC70, and before that a Mercedes G-Wagon. This is so much better than either of those.
Thanks again for all the help and support - really useful when getting to know my new P38.
