Hi, just a quick word on arrival.
I have a 2001 P38 Vogue which has just been joined by a Freelander 2 HSE. An interesting contrast.
We are all three resident in the Auvergne in France.
Why the addition? I wanted something smaller and more « ahem, economical » than the Rangie for local work. Also the Rangie seems to have shot a valve or something - crunch and a sudden loss of power on a kick-down and nasty tapping noises from the head. Ho hum. So that’s off the road for a while to come, assuming I can find someone willing to do the work.
I studiously ignored all the sage advice on the forum about diesel vs petrol: 1) The seller was only 15km away; 2) the car has 104,000km from new in 2007; 3) all backed by bills and history; 4) I needed the car by the weekend.
Things done: got the spare key fob working - poor contacts on the pressure buttons, resolved by a couple of slivers of plastic in the fob. To do: take off the roof bars.
My starting point on the forum. I look forward to « meeting » you all in the coming months/years.
Roger
