All right all? I,m new to the site and i don,t own a Land Rover yet, but i was wondering what the green lane situation was in scotland. When i DO get myself a defender i will no doubt be wanting to play with it. Cheers all!:)

you can prob do anything in the far north. theyve only got 1 copper for each zillion acres. theyll never get you.

the downside is if a landowner shoots you, they wont find your body for a zillion yrs.

im from edinburgh and im struggling to find green lanes even on ordnance maps, hows your search going!

Hi all, i dont have any specifics, but i understand there are a few tracks in the perthshire area.

Sorry guys ..........but after many years of looking .............still no greenlanes in Scotland............just completley diffrent land laws .......However if you go and ask land owners 7out of ten times you can get on .........as long as you tread lightly.............and make a "bottle offer"A nice malt always works ...............

There is one greenlane ...the Corrie pass .....General Wades old road ....but it is getting harder and harder to use it ...........a few weeks ago it was only able to be driven half way ..........before you go you have to get some permissions from land owners ....more courtsey than anything else.....can be checked out with Inverness council...........but I have heard a lot of complaints from people being refused entry.......it is very difficult to get a clear run through it ....even then it depends on the time of year.........lambing season is a nogo time ..........I have driven it in winter and it was a crisp bright day ,,,,by the time we were a few miles up there it was a blizard ...and the group had to turn back ....so never underestimate the weather ..............
A couple of Landy Mags have reviewed the track .....and voted it the best in the UK ...............but the local land owners were not happy with the way the described it as a greenlane and open to all...............when its not ............
So if any forum users are looking for a trip in the future ....why not start sounding it out ...............????

There are no green lanes in Scotland except General Wades Military road up by Loch Ness. This is because of the different laws up.

Forestry roads you are not meant to supposed to go on, and are not worth it as they are just compressed stone roads designed for the logging trucks, a car could drive them.
