Lanes are awkward to find 'cos the maps we had weren't as detailed as Ordnance Survey .. France Maps and what looked like tracks were often good roads and vice-versa.

Best thing I could suggest is do a websearch for local 4x4 clubs in the area and see what they have. As we were caravanning and staying on un-booked places that were mostly French rather than English run we were often told where tracks were by the managers/barmen/reception desk people ... ;) When you do get lanes though, they tend to be long, technical and often l;ead to 'play' areas or motocross style tracks. We nver had any trouble from anyone wherever we were, indeed most people would ofte point out further trails, especially when we were far out in the wilds .. very accomodating for off-roading, we found ... ;)
