Hi guys and gals,

I've just been given a used Garmin GPS2 but the donor couldn't find
the antenna that is supposed to come with it. I've looked on eBay and
can buy one there but wondered if anyone here knows where else I might
purchase one from?

As the unit will mostly be used in the Landie is it sensible to forget
the one that clips on the back and just go for an external one?

All advice gratefully accepted, as always :)

Get an external antenne from lowe electronics, not the cheapest but very
good - you will need it for a proper landy :) , the little fixed antenne is
fine for discos with there bigger windscreen area but in defender/series
etc.they will struggle due to the windscreen angle

If you know of anyone else giving one away then feel free to snd them in my
direction :)

Has your car got a heated screen? If so, the element interferes with the
ability of the GPS to find a signal. If I use my GPS12 in the Rangie, it
can take up to 15 minutes to get a fix (compared with 30sec or so in the
open). After that, it seems to work fine. If I used it a lot, I would get
an external aerial as the others recommend.

I had exactly this problem after fitting a heated screen to my 110, my
Garmin e-trex would lose signal regularly. I got a re-radiating antennae
from gps warehouse and it's excellent. Cost about UK£45.
