After weeks of searching and deciding what Landrover to go for this time, I picked up my lastest Landrover, a Nov 1995 300tdi xs auto discovery.
I found a few problems when I chose the car - rotten boot floor (ugly but repairable), L/H rear central locking motor is not happy, a sqeeky belt and the drivers electric window makes a loud crack when it starts to go down and then doesn't look like it's in the runner properly (goes up fine and like it should).
Even with all these problems I'm chuffed to bits with it and although I had a drama with the alarm imobiliser jobbie as it decided to arse me about for an hour but a new battery in the fob sorted that out.
Just happy as a pig in ****e to be back in the land of the mighty landrovers.

p.s anyone from Manchester fancy doing a bit of greenlaning?

Awdo Mike .Welcome aboard! There is a club in Stockport called "the friendship 4x4 club" I dont go myself, to busy earning a crust for wife and two kids :D I have got a day booked at Landrover experience in Bala for December. It will be my first taste of off roading .Ive chose the Defender as all the other vehicles are auto's.Good luck!

mine started doing that, found one of the plastic washers had broke. ended up replacing the mechanism.

Same problem here, I've "manipulated" the offending arm a little so it'll run in the track without making the cracking noise but I will replace it when I get the chance.

The passenger side rear dood central locking motor was also playing up, making a grinding/clicking sound when you lock the door but I found that when you squeeze the casing as you lock it, the noise disapeared so I drilled a hole either side of the motor on the mounting plate, slackened off the 2 screws holding the motor and slipped in an M6 nut then pulled the whole lot tight with a cable tie and fastened up the 2 screws - no noise and the locking system works fine. Again I will fit a new motor when I get the chance.

Mike

I've since discovered that there is a leak making the drivers side head lining wet near the door rubber AND the drivers side floor also near the door rubber so if anyone has an idea why please send your answers on a post card or post them on here.:)
