Well ,decided day off work and good weather i'd do the pcv valve, so all was going well until trying to undo torx bolts on pcv, bloody things are made of cheese  anyway visegrips eventually got them out and slowly prise it off, only for the very bottom hose to fall off,got a spare just in case so all is going to plan. Talk about gumped up pcv and pipes, definately needed changing. Struggled to renew oil separtor pipe and bottom pcv pipe but job done. Was going to start to put back together and remembered Deasy recent thread on his pcv and how oily the inlet manifold was and decide to check with a mirror and to my horror the f***ininlet vent pipe was broken, split at pcv end and completely broke at inlet end. So the question is, is the vent pipe a 2 piece pipe or one piece and can it be inserted from inlet manifold end with pcv alredy on. Looked in rave but it looks 1 piece but bmw sites say 2 piece. Some pics off problem

Well is answer is 1 piece and comes with rubber o-ring aswell. Fitted the new one today, took off front throttle body and inlet front cover, slid the vent pipe in from the rear (wont go from the front) and pushed the snap fitting into the hole at the front, then replaced pcv valve, checked it all from the front and put back together. New gaskets front and rear on manifold, checked for vacuum leaks and all well

nice one matey, glad your all sorted!

See its well worth checking it out! i think its one of the things that tends to get overlooked or people just dont know about!

How long did it take you to strip the throttle body? i might take mine off and clean the inlet maniford out abit with some rags

Well worth doing even if its a pain, bruised knees, knuckles and forearms but its the peace of mind, dont want to lose an engine thro this part. I couldn't believe just how gummed up all the associated pipework was.

The throttle body probably 10-15 mins to remove because of wiring in and around it,its only 4no 10mm bolts so pretty easy,oh and a big rubber o-ring on the back. Front inlet manifold cover about the same because has them silly torx head bolts
