these frostie mornnings can't get started fitted new battery about 8 weeks ago how do Icheck glow plugs.

Either just replace them cos they are cheap to buy, or take one out and wire directly to the battery.
I've done this using a wire from the -ve battery terminal to the body of the glow plug held on with a pair of insulated pliers, then briefly touch the nut end of the glow plug to the +'ve. They should glow nice and red.
Don't do this too much though as they rather interestingly get too hot and seem to burn out in open air - fun to see though.
