Just a quicky,

can anyone tell me where i can locate the glow plug relay under my 1984 2.5 n/a 90?

the wire disappears behind the bulkhead.

is it anywhere accessable without pulling the lower dash off?

if i dont get an answer soon im going to pay mega $$$ and get my indi to do it! :(

nooooooooooooooo!

Another and possible easier solution is the abandon the old broken one, and fit a replacement, wired from first principles.

You get Glow by pushing a big button.

This way you get to choose how long to glow, and you can hold the glow for a few seconds after it fires up.

Discomania's ex-police ex-petrol 90 is wired like this.
Sierra glow relay does the business.

Thanks Grunt, thats a big help. i dont think i want to be fuking around taking the dash apart if its that far in.

I thought about that Charles, seems like a Great idea, but im **** at electrics.

what amp wire would i need to use? and i take it i would need a hefty switch to hold the current.

batt - fuse - relay - switch - glow plug harness?

i dunno ;)

got other more important things at the mo. my hub assembly blew up on the M5 last night! read my other post!

No, the switch is only controling the relay, the relay IS the switch for the glows... so relay needs switched, big heavy wire that can take a good 80amps or something in, out to the plugs, and there you have it really!

The fuse needs to be on the high current circuit, the relay needs less than an AMP, thats why relays are used, so that switches can be small and not have high current passing through them, they can go on a 1amp fuse or something
