hello:).can anyone tell me how long the heater light stays on for in the dash, mine stays on for about 4 secs, what controls the heater light?thanks

yes very good the heater light is the glow plugs warming up but what im trying to say is the glow plug timer cuts voltage off at about 8-9 secs but the light goes out after only 4 secs, you would think they would work in relation to each other.i,m trying to start the car after 4 secs when basically the glow plug timer is only half way through its cycle?could this be the reasoning to me having to cycle the h/light 3 times before it will fire up?anyone get that:)

well you dont need the glow plugs to got through there full cycle to start a dezul. It makes life very hard if yer dont, but isnt essential(howver on your motor its sound like it is.)

Glow light may well go out before power is cut to the glow plugs, keeping the glow plugs hot while the engine is cranked is not unusual and aids starting. I haven't checked it on the P38, but on other engines in my possesion the glow plugs definatly stay on as cranking starts.
