reckon my heater plugs are on way out

she needs 30 seconds or so heating before attempting to turn it

when it starts its quite lumpy and a wee bit smokey ....

once warmed up - runs lovely and starts on the button - which indicates to me 1 or more plugs aint working

so in all - what heater plugs ? (or indeed have i got it completely wrong being new to landys)

my old fez got treated to bosch plugs (was my daily runner) - they werent cheap

i realise that the 5 quid ones on ebay will likely be ****e...

ive heard bearmach being bandied about on here - are they any good or is it like britpart - and where does one find bearmach ones ?(ps i used search and google but seem to be totally inept at extracting the relevent info from the ****e! )

checked mine were extractable at weekend - they were

ordered a set of ngks today for 25 quid

gave up looking for bearmach - most of them using bearmach pictures were "brand may vary" - which likely means ill get the lovely joys of brit part

My 19J is a poor starter from cold but once started runs superb ( tis fitted into a series 3 Lightweight ! )...took out the glow plugs today and they are all fine !! Even checked the feeder wire to the glow plugs..all OK..so I'm stumped now !!

didnt make much difference to mine TBH but i think i have other issues anyway - lift pump and boost diagphragm on the way - will also check/clean all my lines at the same time and fit a new fuel filter -

doesnt need as long on the plugs but still poor starter - lumpy like its only running on a couple cylinders

checked all plugs are getting power

run a new earth to the block

its only from cold , once its started it will start and run 100% from the first turn of the key without falter- its down on power from when i first got it though at the top end and lacking turbo, used to hear it spooling and then a wee surge - now you hear it winding away and no power ! - no smoke though.

will get there - probably cracked pistons :D

Cracked it...fully depress throttle pedal when cranking her over..starts first time now :)

I have similar problems but have learnt a few things.

1. Pump the accelerator couple of times before starting.
2. A new battery makes no difference.

I am planning a transplant soon bit will do plugs next week.

Oh. There is feature on 19j. If it starts without pedal, don't. Let it settle. Called "coldstart". It self sorts the pistons. There is mention in a thread
