Just bought my second discovery and now and I’m having a major ball ache with it. First off to try and stop the many oil leaks with sump gasket, rocker gasket, crankshaft seal, new oil way pipe. Next its leaking from the gearbox so box out, input shaft seal, new clutch and find out the dual mass fly wheel is buggered. Next up is front and back pinion seals on the diffs and then i find out the steering box is leaking. And then to top it off the bloody sun roof is leaking now. These things hold fluids like a sieve. Me and wallet are starting to fall out with this disco. Knowing my luck, when I’ve finally sorted this out some un-insured driver will t bone me and write it off.

I feel your pain!!!!

We paid £3000 for what we thought was a decent D2, only to be faced with £1600 bill to replace clutch, Flywheel, oil seals, propshaft UJs etc. I console myself that now its all done and the EGR valve is removed I should have some trouble free motoring!!!!

I can feel your pain, when things start to go wrong, they can go very wrong - but look on the bright side, once it fixed you should have a cracking motor.. hopefully! - you can always geta peugeot and start all over again, but this time everything will fall off :p.. well in my experience everything went wrong with the two i had.

As for the sunroof - I just fixed mine with the kind help/guidance from members of this forum - Plenty of info on this forum if you need guidance.

How olds the disco? - Probably lack of adequate dedicated maintenance from previous owner like mine, - some people do the basics and no more

It's a 2001 and I think some tool must have had it before me because the service history just stopped 20000 miles ago. Just had diff pinion seals done and rear is still leaking. Talk about kicking you when your down. Has any one heard of flange kits for the diff. I'm told it will sort it.

If the seal is,nt fitted correctly, it will leak straight away. Its usually beacause it is knocked in to far.

It can also be because the drive flange has a groove worn in it, which a new one will sort out.

Cheers.
