I have a 53 disco 2 auto diesel due for service. Is it personal taste for filters etc or worth paying the extra for genuine land rover over britpart and bearmach etc. Thanks

I spent a fortune with main dealer genuine parts, worth every penny, compare price of component to the expense of a catastrophic failure, I will never trust anything supplied by ****part.

See if I can find youtube vid on filter quality, real eye opener!

I used to buy genuine for service until the fuel filter reached over the £30 mark, now buy the full Bearmach service kit from a shop on ebay for around £15 and for that you get 2 oil filters, fuel and air filters and copper washer for sump bolt.
Been using them for 3 years now and never had a problem

+1

Spent a fortune on genuine once and once only. Complete waste of money.

For what its worth my P38 is only serviced with Genuine filters and I try to only fit genuine parts. Not saying BritPart isn't good if your on a budget just my personal choice.

I use genuine filters, but will buy OEM for most running parts.

We carry a spares box for when we go to Europe, pair of hubs, water pump etc etc, you couldn't afford to have those laying around if they were genuine.

Front downpipe/catalysts are £130 on fleabay, £1070 genuine!

Avoid cheap oil filters, stick with reputable brands and you'll be fine - no need to stick to LR branded IMHO. I use MANN, but MAHLE is also supposed to be pretty good.
