I have a 1988 P38 4.0. Doesn’t crank, no check engine light illuminates when position 2 selected with ignition. I have entered the EKA code. The immobiliser light extinguishes when the remote unlocks the doors. (All except passenger front) it has a fully charged and amp tested battery, I think the BeCM has dropped out of sync. Although worryingly I don’t have any shift position lights on the centre console.
I did buy a syncmate but unfortunately in my haste I didn’t check whether it was a gems or motronic and surprise surprise it’s motronic. So I’m wondering if there is anyone local who can help (for beertokens obviously)

Ah, the International Rescue is more a roadside emergency assistance thing. Try the Range Rover section and try the International Map and see if anyon is close with a Nanocom. We used to have a member up there called jackk but not seen him for a while. @mozz smith is the expert at getting these things mobile.

I'm in Tynemouth, but unfortunately, I don't have any of the electrickery gadgets as mine is a NA.
Had you been stuck, I would have offered to tow you, but I'm pleased that you and yours are safe at home.
Daft, you still have all my details don't you?

There is no problem using the LZIR map to see has diagnostics near you and then PMing them to see if they can/would like to help.

New threads in the LZIR section are for emergencies and desperate situations.

Phone contacts won't be used for anything casual.

A quick update on this I have hired a gems syncmate from black box and plugged it in, initially it didn’t work however once I thoroughly cleaned the obd port thoroughly and plug it back in it resynchronise straight away and started straight up not bad considering it’s been standing idle for two years.

Once I’ve made sure it’s salvageable and isn’t a basket case I will be.

I can’t stress how much value for money a syncmate is. Until you’re stuck with a dead P38 you can’t really grasp it. But if you’ve got no check engine light when the ignition is in position 2. Your car doesn’t crank (4.6 and 4.0l) and your battery and fuses are ok I would buy or hire a syncmate.
Whole procedure less than 5 minutes as long as your OBD port and connectors behind the passenger kick panel aren’t corroded.

If it is a keeper just shell out the extra cash for a Nanocom.

@martyuk rents out Syncmates.
