Freelander 1 Gearchange selector lever

Good morning,

Yesterday the linkage decided to part company with the selector lever on my Freelander 1 TD4.
Is there a repair kit for the lever and how easy are they to remove please?

The nylon insert wears and the ball pops out!! So to speak.

Some have fabricated a clip to hold the parts together. A new rod is difficult to find used without it being worn and new are about £80 each.
Sorry it's not good news. Looking at making a clip to hold the ball in and allow movement would be my preferred route.

Some have put a neoprene glove finger over the ball to make it tighter as a get you home fix but it won't last.

Can the nylon insert be replaced?
How is the lever attached to the shaft, is it a roll pin or is it fixed to the shaft and box out job?

The two rods with nylon cilups in them which is where I think yours has failed, have a nylon cup each end and both rods can be prised free and removed for inspection.

May need to get underneath, not sure you can reach from the top.
 
It has failed where the linkage joins the lever on the gearbox. It is currently held together with a cable tie.
The lever is now obsolete, does anybody know where I might be able to buy a new one or anywhere that might supply a new insert for it please?
 
when breakdown cable tied it together i assumed the socket was on the lever not the road. I'll take the rod off and see what state it's in
