anybody got any tips on refitting a s111 gearbox after fitting a clutch?the clutchis centered fine

Making sure the clutch plate is centred correctly is important. If you've got an old scrap gearbox, then taking out the input shaft and using it to centre the plate would be ideal, but I shaped an old broom handle and that worked fine for me.

A jack uder the rear of the engine and another oneunder the gearbox is essential to align the two longitudally. Then 'jiggle' the gearbox around and after quite bit of swearing it should mate with the engine. If its not gone in within twenty minutes go way and have a cuppa or a pint and whe you come back try again. Usually works for me.

have someone jiggle the engine crank from side to side only needs to be a bit. this moves the clutch so that the splines line up.you can sometimes do it just by moving the fan blades.while theyre jiggling you push the g/box.works a treat.
