The relay clicks etc and it tries to turn
It would if it had fired into ring gear whilst engine was running and engine was driving it. Jammed then the one way clutch had failed. Take it off and have a look. The starter whirrs but thats all. Starter is tight against engine. Should I take it off?
Would starter cause the sudden loss in power?
Just had gearbox sump off and changed filter. All looked ok, no broken bits fell out.
Ok thank you thats tomorrows project. I hope thats what it is . The cheapest option methinks
Starter motor off and looks ok, no twisted shaft or broken teeth etc. Flywheel ring gear looks ok the wee bit i can see.
Connected battery across motor and whirrs away quite happily.
Pair of jump leads, positive to the nut that held the big cables from car and to one of the wee lucar terminals, negative to casing.
