Ongoing Weird problem with my 98 p38.. It is idling Perfectly at 1600rpms and 900 when in gear and has done this for several weeks...I am working on it.
Recently, after driving through some rather large puddles the idle reverted to normal for the rest of the trip. (Unfortunately the puddles were to small to make the whole car disappear)
The following day high idle was back from start up.
So I thought, idle effected, cluncky gear change, tired components and wiring, water ingress in gearbox switch...
This is what I found,

Surprised it worked at all, I did this to it..

When it looked like this, I refitted it..

The hunk of junk still idles high. But with wiring like that down there, I know where I need to be looking.
Hope this helps someone, easy little job to do but put them all together and its a mare.
Any suggestions on where to go next ??

Its a gems 4.0L S.E. with higher spec BECM (apparently, electric seat connections but standard seats)and its a 1998 with 170k on the clock.
Bloody thing... Trust a land rover to work correctly only when its raining.
The fact that its happened twice now driving through puddles, I think points to cabling or connector low down on vehicle
The thing is well maintained but always wants more, I'm going to name her after my 1st wife.
And I have searched for a common wiring faults on t'net but with much unsuccessfulness :D
Any suggestions appreciated.
