Gearbox problem

Hi there,i'm posting this for my neighbour who has a problem with his auto gearbox,car works fine upto 30 mph but then won't go up into the next gear(downhill it will though,and reverse fine);any ideas?

it's a v8 Defender 90,1989 model

when (if ever) was it's oil last changed ?

That certainly sounds like the ATF needs flushing out and possibly the governor needs a clean out as well.

Auto Defender, bloody wish they had them here, is it a production auto, or a mod.

thanks for the replies,i'll pass the info on,he's only had the car a few months so probably needs to do all the fluid changes to be on the safe side

as to wheather it's a production or modification,he suspects it' a mod
