Hi there
Ive got the gearbox out today so change some bearings on the layshaft.
Also discovered that the drive flange had big play on the back of the transfer box so that will be changed Question is, while i have it all off is it worth looking at the clutch? Was all driving fine before i removed the gearbox.

It depends on how many miles it has on it, I wouldn't change it if it were remotely fresh, if you dont know it wouldn't hurt to look at it.

Just had timing belt and oil leak done on my ford van...they had a look at the clutch although I hadn't asked them too...friction plate had a broken spring jammed in it!!!

For the price of a clutch kit (even the 130 spec Valeo (OEM) kit) compared to the labour involved to do it later, unless I have literally only just changed it (last 10k) I would not even ask the question and just replace it as a matter of course. At the same time I would also change the clutch fork for a new HD one, fit a new release bearing and a new spigot bush.

I found a knackered release bearing. If I hadn't decided to replace the clutch since I had the box off, I'd have been doing the job again 6 months - or less- later.
