Has anyone fitted the Ashcroft Transmissions higher ratio final drive gears please?
If so, is it a job that can be done without special tools and does the box have to come out or can I do it from underneath and leave box in place. Thanks

you need a modified case, and in any case it would need removing to fit the high gear on output shaft

Thanks, not sure on diffs, Ashcroft suggest you can mod the case but can't find details.
Top gear just seems very low, 50 miles on M5 proved that!

What engine, sounds like you have 2.25d engine so depending on what gearing you have and what size tyres you have I don't think a diesel will do much more.
If it's a 2.25p engine the same applies but should easily do 65-70.
It also depends what you are using it for, towing / carrying weight or off roading.
I am running a 2a swb with a 200tdi tweaked turbo and FIP, 3.54 diffs and an Ashcroft HRTC which I am about to swop out for a std tranny box as the gearing is far to high, I've tried swopping the rear diff with the original diff to pull the gearing down which it does but not enough so my plan is to keep the 3.54 diff and fit a std tranny box which should give me the gearing I want or as close as, hope this helps

I sent my transfer case to ashcroft to be modified they fill in the intermediate shaft holes then redrill in new lower location.
Instructions from there site downloaded awhile back.
