gearbox failure

hii alll , hope you can help , i have a 2010 range rover sport 3l hse and im have a few problems with my auto box , every now and again im driving the box goes into almost like a limp mode , and i get a warning light gearbox failure , if i stop and restart the engine it seems to cure the fault but im getting a bit cheesed off with it all .. hope you can help

You need to get her on diagnostics, to get the code.

How does it change gear? smooth or rough?

Has the gearbox been serviced?

if so what fkuid was used?

If not what Mileage is on it?

hi henry , firstly thank you for your prompt reply , milage is 86k on clock , ive only had it a year and it was serviced a week b4 i bought it , the gear change is really smooth , honestly i dont know if the gear box has been serviced at all

At that mileage it is due a service, descriptive link in my sig..

The Trans Fault message is most likely an electrical failure more than a mechanical fault with the box itself, there are several sensors that feed info to the gearbox.
if one of them goes up the creek the 'box will go into failsafe mode.

Best get the fault codes read..

Check the battery low volts can and do throw up gearbox faults.

I no its a range rover sport even worse for leccy faults than a p38

thanks for the replies , ive had 14 codes reset and it was ok till this morning and it went again ..... losing the will to live

2 boost pressure sensor
3 i c v idle control valve
4 o2 censor
5 door lock
6 air con
7 blowers

Alas really need the full codes plse , can the garage give them to u if u call them

Seeing there’s so many things that communicate with the gearbox , without the codes ur really looking for a needle in a haystack
