Hi guys , have searched but cant find my specific issue , hopefully its not too rare.
I have a 2007 Range Rover sport with 170’000 on the clock.
Runs fine excepting for changing ( auto) from 3rd to 4th, it is only occasional but will happen on virtually every trip at least once. On changing the rpm seems to drop significantly and you can feel a bump , hicccup type sensation from the engine as if changimg down innapropriately, the “ F” will then appearon the dash and the transmission failure only certain gears are useable appears also. In my case 1/2/3rd gears only . If you stop turn engine off and restart the problem goes away.
Any one any ideas on what this may be before I take it to the garage and get charged the earth?

Why are you letting the garage put an earth strap from the chassis to the gearbox? Surely you could jack it up in offroad mode and wriggle under there with a tape an measure up how long a bit of cable and then use a bolt hole and a mounting bolt to affix it.

Also, go get it mega flushed, you will never have had it changed as at that point it was said to be a sealed for life box.

Or just stump up for a rebuilt one and be done with it, they can fit an extra earth strap when they replace the old box lol
