Hi all,
Putting my gearbox and transfer box back together after seal replacements and new clutch etc. Spun the transfer box in high and low all seems ok. Now I have the boxes mated together the transfer box seems locked in high or low but not neutral.
Diff lock seems to make no differance. When main gearbox is in gear also locked. By locked I mean there is a bit of back lash to take up and then clunk. Hoping I havn't b######s it.
And advice greatfully accepted, ( R380 and LT230 )
Cheers,
Mike.

how are you testing for this by hand or engine, there is 6 bolts that secure t/box to g/box the 2 on the drivers side should be the short 40 mm bolts ifthe top one is longer it will jam on intermediate gear

Cheers James, testing it by hand on prop' flanges and gearbox input shaft. Just about to go and see if I have put a long bolt where I shouldn't have.
Thanks for the quck response, I'll keep you posted,
Mike.

Also, did you try to stop the gearbox with your other hand when you turn the flange when it is in neutral? Drag in the box will turn the box even if not in gear, the gears are always in mesh, it's just which way they are locked to the shaft sets the position, in neutral with no load on the box the drag over the gears on the shaft will spin it - a bit like if you jack up a car or put it on a lift with the engine running, the wheels often start to spin, it's not in gear but the drag in the gearbox will cause it to spin.
