Hi I have just got myself a series 3 and am trying to get it back on the road. The gear stick rattles in the selectors which I am sure is caused by a worn bush at the end of the stick. Mine looks like it was a cylindrical nylon bush and has completely worn to the diameter of the stick. Does anyone know where I can get a new bush or whether it is possible to manufacture one to fit?
Thanks

Its amazing just as you find an issue with your own waggon a thread pops up here with someone else having the same.

On a club run yesterday lost the ability to change gear. While stuck on a sand dune removed floor and tunnel. Found one spring on plate broken. Moved good one to outer to let plate pivot.
Also noticed bit of garden hose around lower gear stick. Apparently this stops gear stick rattle.
The bit the O-ring fits around also becomes square. Does this mean a whole new stick?

Mine has a cylindrical end which I think is original shape as I can see the remains of the old bush still wrapped around it. It is recessed so not possible to slide off the old bit to investigate. I had also thought of sliding on a piece of pvc piping to damp down the rattle but worried this might break up and jam the selectors

I've tried the DIY approach first. I made a sleeve from 15mm copper capillary joint. Cut the end off to reduce the length to match the original bush and pinched the end to stop it sliding on the gear stick. While I had the stick out I also cleaned all the solidified grease out from the centering spring and now the gear change is slick and stick does not rattle so much. Job done!
