gear stick problem.....

hi- i've been having problems selecting gears on my series 3. it seemed that 1st and 2nd aren't where they should be . to cut a long story short i got the floor up today mad: ) and the ball on the gearstick that sits in the selector forks has alot of wear lines, some of which are quite deep.

the two questions i have are: is this a simptom of something serious that i'm overlooking or just a previous owner being too rough with the gears?

and does anybody have a spare gearstick or know where i may get one?

been there myself in the last few days, decided i need a new floor now
if you need a new stick you can get them for a tenner

i shouldnt think a bit of wear would cause too much problem unless its not pushing the selector fork all the forward or backward to get 1st and second

what do you mean byu 1/2nd not where they should be ?

cheers- i took the floor up again today in better light. the wear wasn't quite as bad as i had first thought, but the bracket that supports the gearlever was abit on the ****. straightened it up abit and changed the gearbox oil which seems to have helped things abit.
