Gear Selection

Trouble selecting position 1 on gear selection, both ratios.

Its a P38 2001 model 4.0 Auto petrol.

When the selector is pulled fully back it only endgges down to position 2. Can not get to 1.

Other than this it drives OK on all other options.

Any idea what this could be?

I could also do with some help on this as I have a similar issue but have been ignoring it as I only normally use "D" although this may change with the current weather!!

Do the lights light up correctly next to the gear lever and do you get the correct display on the message centre?
Either the selector switch mechanism or the mechanical part needs adjusting, Look at RAVE for details.

The lights light up next to the gear lever and they match the display on the message centre.

It feels as though the gear stick cant go far enough back for position 1 so the light by the stich and the message centre still display 2...

Mine does this too. I did ask my Indie to fix it last time they had it in but they claimed it was working fine. It's definitely worse on mine on low range settings - I can usually select it in High range by pulling the lever back hard.

Something else I must get around to sometime. I found the rave information a bit unhelpful but perhaps I'll have another look sometime.

Just been checking it again.

As I shift down from D to 3 to 2 to 1 it does feel as though it may be "clicking" into 1, although if it is it does seem v close to 2 but the lamp and the display both still show 2. Dont know if it could be possible to be in 1 and show 2?

Also looked at Rave but dont find it to be too good at troublesgooting...
