Gear Leaver grommet (R380)

I have seen in a parts book a grommet which its between the gear leaver and the gearbox part number FRC7160.
This part is not shown in all parts books, should it be fitted to a 2001 R380 Gearbox or not.
It's not fitted to my vehicle should it be?

This is the part I take it, it will stop grunge getting into the gear linkage and hep keep it clear when wading but did all R380 gear boxes' have them fitted?
