Gauge problems fuel and engine temp

Hi there

Looking for a hand, I have a 56 plate td5 90

Couple of days ago fuel gauge started playing up sometimes it's fine and needle will rise when I turn on ignition other times gauge will read empty and fuel light comes on, restart and will often correct. Then had it out in dark last night and the back light on the fuel and temp gauge is no longer working. Again both working prefect the other day. There is no other problems with temp gauge seems to work fine.

Any ideas?

Could have a dicky wire behind the dashboard. To play safe with the fuel level do a tap test against the fuel tank and listen to the sound difference. Alternatively remove the display panel and have a look at the two problem lights for a break in the plastic circuit board when the bulb screw into.
