found the water leak on the 300 TDi. Thermostat housing - head joint.
Naturally, half the front of the bloody engine has to come off to replace
it, including the bit with the P gasket which has not long been replaced.

No you don't Austin !!!!

The bottom two holes in that housing are slotted as is the gasket.

You have to remove the top two bolts but only loosen the bottom ones a
couple of turns.

Top you read this before you rip it all apart.
