Hi. New member here, thank you admin for acceptance.
Does anyone have experience of Maer chassis?
I’m about to purchase a replacement chassis for my defender 90 and struggling to decide. Marsland most expensive, richards mid price and shielder and Maer most competitively priced. Thanks

Welcome:)

Have a search in the main forum, heard good about the Maer, and bad about the shieder.
Others good but waiting times at the moment seem to be an issue.

So best to search/ask in the main forum lots here have done it so plenty advice will be forth coming.

Got any pics of your rust bucket? cos we like pics in this bit:D.

Thanks. I didn’t realise I wasn’t posting on main forum, I will get the hang of this site in time.
I took a couple of photos for a before and after , if I get to the after stage

Hi welcome, looks like you're going to have fun in the coming months
Thanks for the welcome. I'm finding my way round this excellent forum and found the members project thread. Some great projects posted.
I can’t find any negative reviews on Maer chassis so far. There must be a catch they are competitively priced

Wish I went for a maer for my disco 2 rebuild due to the price. Went for a richards which cost £3000.
When I replaced the chassis on my 90 around 2011/2 I bought a marsland (cost £1050), don't think you can buy them direct anymore? How much do they charge nowadays

Thanks everyone for the advice. The marsland coming in around £3.1k, Richards £2.6k and shielder and Maer around £2.2k

Hi and welcome!

I’ve just had some welding done on my 90 which has made me look at a galvy chassis longer term so I’ll keep an eye on this discussion. I was leaning towards Richards but I’m open to other suggestions.

Ordered the Richards chassis today. Hoping to start dismantling the car next week when weather cools down. Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated. Especially about body removal. I was hoping to remove the body as a whole, I’ve seen some very ingenious threads on how people done that, but wondering if dismantling it would be safer. How difficult is it to reassemble and line up the body parts on rebuild.
Thanks again for the welcome from members
