Hi,

Just a quick post to say hello.

Looking for my first Defender. Seen my first few today but not overly impressed with any.

Hoping to pick up plenty of tips here to help me!

Cheers

Phill

Welcome to the forum, Phill. Take your time! Read the threads on here about what to look for when buying for the first time. DON'T dive in!

As above, and I think prices will come down a bit when the end of production frenzy is over.
Also try and drive as many as you can, if you have never driven one, you might be in for a culture shock.

Thanks guys, good advice.

I was at a couple of dealers in the Wakefield area yesterday and no offence if its anyone on here, but the cars left a bit to be desired.

Looking at the ones I had earmarked they were all bought before xmas (found them on ebay or gumtree), been scraped through the MOTs and then had paint blown over the rust and waxoyl onto the mud still on the chassis. Plus with it being horrendous rain it was obvious they were all leaking through the bulk heads quite badly.

Stick a couple of grand on the screen price in the current frenzy and bobs your uncle. Easy money for them.

It made me decide to forget looking at dealers and try to find something private and preferably enthusiast owned.

I am sure I will be keeping you guys busy with questions anyway. I may need some help fitting rear seats if the tidiest truck has an empty rear!

Phill
