right got my dse back today landrover today they say its the becm is knackered and quoted £1000, i been told it could be fuse box, the problem is the engine light dont come on and it wont start, when it was starting (not often) it came up gearbox fault and stalled few times, i took fuse box apart and relay 7 panel is slightly burnt and smells a little, i only dismanttled to where it needs un-soldering would this make the engine light stay off and not smell, other things the fusebox works seem to be ok, could it even be ecu, any help anyone

There are four relays for diesel engine control...Power Supply, Glow Plugs, Starter Motor, Fuel Pump. Twoare located in the engine bay fuse box and two in the engine ECU. The engine check light is activated by the BECM via an input from the engine ECU..Stupid question..have you checked the bulb, but that wouldn't cause non starting if it was blown.

i take it you mean engine light bulb, no i havnt but it was coming on sometimes, i replaced glow plug relay what number are the 2 fuses in box

came with just fuses, i just fitted it but no different, there is power to the three wires on becm anyone know what might be another prob why engine light isnt on aand wont start other that becm

it seems to have lost contact with the key, and there is an imobiliser fob seperate like someone has put new imob on it but cant see that anywhere either, is there a way of trying some sort of bypass of any possible imobs

Well, that just leaves the BECM to engine ECU "Handshake" or an engine ECU fault. The BECM is the most probable first, and hopefully final step. Is the fuel pump cutting in?
Another thing to check is the fuel cut off impact switch behind the drivers side panel in the footwell

The immobiliser on the P38 is very much "Cast Iron" and cannot be overcome by "Hot wiring"
It not only immobilises the car but in most cases, alarms the BECM which is non reversible unless you have the special software.
Sent you a PM
