Haven’t even got round to fixing last week’s problems yet! Now the indicators are blowing the fuse, grrrrrr. First fuse (indicator & gauges) blew after using the indicator (not sure which direction), so I replaced it and seemed to work for a while. Then, travelling down the road it happened again when I wanted to go left, I bunged the hazards on as there was a car behind approaching quickly. This time the hazard light fuse melted and nearly caught fire. Great.
I’ve checked the indicators direct from the hazard light switch using a fused-wire and both sides light up when permanent supply (purple) is connected to either left or right indicator, this does not blow the fuse. I then connected permanent live to the flasher supply and tried the indicator stalk ( with ignition on ), but no life from the flasher unit. I took the flasher relay off and pulled the outer case off and the electricals didn’t look too bad, a little sign of overheating and a bit of a smell.
I’ve ordered a new relay and a load more fuses, so I can do some more investigating soon. Is the flasher unit likely to be the cause or a symptom? I’m cack when it comes to electrical issues. In fact, I’m cack when it comes to most issues.
Any advice appreciated!
