When i start the disco up from cold, for the first few minutes it sounds like i am blipping the throttle, i.e. the revs rise and fall very slightly. Is this normal?? Also its doesn't seem to like to pull away very quickily when its doing this, i.e. it almost (and has in the past) stalled. Once the engine has been running for while this all stops. Any ideas???

I know what you mean...mine has done this before from cold allthough mine has never been noticably slower at pulling away when cold, having said that I don't take mine over 2K till she's warmed through.....remember no diesel or any engine for that matter when cold will run AS WELL as when it's at normal working temp....could possibly be worth checking your injector loom if you havent already for any oil..... coz since changing mine....it hasn't done it come to think of it...

Was thinking that, just not got round to whipping ecu out yet. Warranty expired last week, so bound to be something!!! Was wondering if EGR removal would make things smoother when cold, its on the list to do

Make sure you have radio code just incase it asks for it when you re-connect battery, coz you need to remove one of the terminals to be able to get ECU out, will only take 5 mins to check it.

I removed my EGR couple of weeks back...again, deffinitely smoother and a little more uuummmpphhh .....certainly worth considering :)

Is this "everytime" or only when its been really cold ?

Do you always wait for the glow plug light to go out ?

The TD5 only has 4 glow plugs, so one cylinder "may" be a little lumpy when starting from very cold, but should quickly turn to smooth running.

Any diesel leaks ? ie fuel pressure regulator, if you have it may be letting air in when shes been stood.

It does it for the first few minutes, or until you have driven it up the road a couple of miles then it calms down. Definitely hasn't always done it, well not to this extent.
